Family Vacation to Gatlinburg, TN [VIDEO]

We just returned from a week of fun in the Smoky Mountains. I vacationed in Gatlinburg, TN a lot growing up, but this is the first time I'd been there in 15 years and the first time ever for Lindsay and the boys.

We had a little rain at the beginning and end of the trip, but the weather mostly cooperated and we had lots of fun exploring the country's most visited National Park.

We stayed at a gorgeous cabin about 15 minutes away from Pigeon Forge that is owned by some friends of the family.

Lindsay's favorite part of the vacation was our day-trip to Cades Cove, an 11-mile driving tour through a valley that long ago housed a community with schools, churches and homes.

The boys liked the driving, but they also loved getting out to stretch their legs at the many historic buildings on the loop.

The one thing Lindsay really wanted on our vacation was to see some bears in real life. She got her wish in Cades Cove when we saw a bunch of cars stopped at a turn. We parked the car and a mom and two young bears came within probably 8 feet of our car.

The boys really loved our picnics and going creek stomping

On our last full day we took it easy and took the boys to play mini golf. It was the first time for both of them, and they did a great job. Reese was getting pretty good by the end and Reese, Lindsay, and I all got holes-in-one on at least one hole.

Of course, we collected a few Palmerisms and Reeseisms on the trip:

Palmerisms:

"You're a bad guy, I'm gonna whistle at you!" Then he proceeds to stick  one finger in his mouth and says "woooo!" since he can't quite whistle yet.

"Reese, stop! You're making me nervous!" (Whenever Reese is bothering Palmer)

Reeseisms:

"Mom, Palmer is grownuping me!" (When Palmer's telling him not to do something - something a grownup would typically do)
