Sprinklers and the 4th of July

If you live anywhere from Texas to Massachusetts, you know it's been crazy hot over the past couple of weeks. While the 4th of July weekend wasn't quite as hot as it's been lately, it was still pretty warm. We attempted to get Reese ready for our trip to Holiday World (look for another blog post really soon about our trip) - the World's very first theme park and southern Indiana's crown jewel - by having him play in the sprinkler out in the front yard.

We weren't completely sure what to expect, but he had a blast getting wet, stomping in puddles and trying to figure out the sprinkler.

On the 4th, we went over to my parents' house (which is still being renovated, so we were relegated to the basement and outside for the day) and hung out with them, as well as my sister, her husband and their 3½-month-old - Elliot. Reese was in the pool for most of the day and would have stayed there all day if we let him.

Reese wanted to sit down and show his little cousin how to read books. Elliot is taking it all in (as you can see).

Aunt Nathalie, Uncle Matt and Cousin Elliot had to head back to East Lansing  before fireworks, but we stayed up at my parents' place and got to watch some great fireworks with them and some neighbors.

It was a great way to spend the 4th.
