Construction is just around the corner

We bought our house about 5 years ago and ever since we moved in we've wanted to redo the upstairs room and put a second full bathroom upstairs.

Now, after nearly 5 years (and a semi-renovation about 2 years ago where we painted and carpeted the upstairs), we're getting ready to dive head-first into full-scale renovation. Over the next month or so, we're having our upstairs room insulated and drywalled and we're adding a bathroom to turn the entire upstairs into a master suite. At the same time, we're having half of our basement renovated (drywalled and adding a couple closets).

Here are some of our Before pictures. We'll be posting pictures throughout the renovation.

The view upstairs to what is currently the playroom and guest room:

View of the upstairs from the stairs to the closet. The closet is where our bathroom will be when the construction is finished:

The dormer next to the current closet. This dormer will be enclosed in the larger bathroom and this will become our master closet:

This is a little closet next to the bigger one (where the master bathroom will go). This will become smaller and will be more of a little storage area:

A view inside the closet where the bathroom will go:

View from the main part of the room to the stairs:

View to the basement. Straight ahead is the unfinished basement (we're not doing anything in there), and to the left is our partially finished basement (currently just painted cinder block walls and a fiberboard ceiling):

View of the basement (stairs are just to the right of this picture):

View from the other side of the basement (yes we're getting rid of the flourescent lights and putting in recessed lighting instead.

And here's a picture of the nasty old fiberboard ceiling. Can't wait for this to be gone.

We're excited to get started and will blog throughout the construction.

  3. @Carrie - we're going with Sunco Construction. Thanks so much for the recommendation. I actually just emailed with Kegahn and they're going to get started on demo on Wednesday! We'll have to have you guys over to see it when it's all finished.
