We're only about five weeks from Lindsay's due date, so now that we've moved our room upstairs (since the construction is done) we've been working on moving Reese to his new big boy room and making changes with Reese's old room to get it ready for the baby. Nana also came to visit recently and helped us get Reese's room all set up. He's really enjoying the new room.
I've been meaning to write this post for a while, but Lindsay talked to her friend Molly today and she specifically asked that I write a post about Reese's big boy room, so here it is.
Reese has really been into cupcakes lately, but he only eats the frosting:
Reese's toybox and reading corner. The corkboard is to post some of Reese's artwork and the bookshelves on the wall are Ikea spice racks that we spray painted to match the room:
We're borrowing a racecar bed from a friend and Reese is really enjoying it. My mom did a great job sewing the curtains for the room - thanks Cici!
We also spray painted Reese's dresser, it used to be white with black handles and it was Lindsay's dad's dresser when he grew up:
Nana and Boppa brought a great vest for Reese that he happily modeled for us (in his pajamas, by the way):
Nana is teaching Reese early that the comics are the most important part of the paper:
Once all the work was done, Lindsay, Reese and Nana got to play. They headed to the State Fair for $2 Tuesday (my absolute favorite day at the fair) and Reese got to see some cows:
Reese and Nana had such a great time:
Even though this year's State Fair theme was "Year of the Dairy Cow", Reese still got his picture taken with the pig:
Yesterday, Reese, Lindsay and I went back to the fair for the last $2 Tuesday of the year and we had a great time. Reese tried a pretzel for the first time and loved it (that's saying a lot for a kid who won't touch bread).
We also spent some time in the FFA Building at the playground there:
The entire time we were at the fair, Reese was obsessed with finding some cotton candy and he was beyond excited when we finally picked some up:
Over the past few weeks Reese has been pretty funny. Here are some of his recent memorable quotes:
- About a week ago, we had the Olympics on the TV during the day and the Rhythm Gymnastics was on. All of a sudden Reese started dancing all around the room saying : "Will I get the gold? I think so"
- As Nana was putting Reese down to bed one day, he had something very important to tell her: "Nana, I have to tell you something, you need to trim your fingernails"
- About a month ago, the three of us went to Cincinnati to go to Ikea and we stopped by UDF for a cappuccino shake and Reese had this to say: "When I was a big daddy, I used to have a keenachappo"
- Before Reese was born, we called him Aubie and we're calling this baby Monkey. We've been asking Reese what the baby's name should be and he spoke quietly: "I want to call it monkey forever"
The room looks great, and I love the quotes at the end. He's adorable! :)
